Gilles is an attending physician at the Department of Infectious Diseases, University Hospital Bern and a senior research fellow at the institute of Social and Preventive Medicine, University of Bern. He leads several HIV and viral hepatitis cohort projects in Switzerland and sub-Saharan Africa, and currently serves as a co-PI of IeDEA-SA and as Chairman of the Scientific Board of the Swiss HIV Cohort Study.
